1: Gulch was gulping We supporters are out of shape and need a couple more match days. We all forget it’s been 8 seasons… and we’re all almost a decade older. It shows. I hurt after the first half.
2: Love the open spaces we’re finding. This has a lot of promise. They’re not afraid of the big swing or to push forward and the quality on the long balls is noticeably better.
3: Cobb had flashes. He needs more confidence on the ball. It almost feels like he doesn’t want to take on the responsibility if a ball goes wonky which is gonna happen. When he pushes the ball forward he looks great. He needs to do that ALL the time.
4: Memphis needs a consultant with a stylist. Emerson’s full emo is gone and I only recognized him by his nose. And their keeper has a man bun…. I mean come on.
5: Great to see Jamal get rewarded for his strength on the ball. He needed to find the net. Brooks is poised for a big season. Caleb better watch behind him, because Wolff wants his minutes and it shows.

1: GG’s strength is his strength. His hold up play and ability to just shield defenders off the ball is so key to the player that he is. It’s how he scored his goal in this match. He’s just such a big strong Greek that there’s not many players that can outright win the ball off of him.
2: Firmi-yes!! Of all our “new” signings, that is exciting, Firmino should be right at the top of everyone’s list. He was electric for the 2’s and had a magical moment for the first team. He’s very neat and tidy on the ball and that showed in his goal.
3: Aiden was impressive. Sure not super sharp, but he wasn’t lacking in confidence and aggression. Love to see the kids playing some first team minutes and giving it loads. The academy group did really well to hold their own as well.
4: We’ve got our Irishman back, we’ve got our ginger back, are we back? It was really nice to see some cohesion and understanding this early on. Having a full and mostly healthy pre season sans visa issues will be a big help.
5: The goal we conceded in the first half was soft & down to communication. There’s not much more to say about it this early with such mixed lineups, but we can’t let soft goals be the story this season. So let’s hope that’s emphasized and corrected by the time we go to Ohio.

1: It was such a strong start and then we conceded because we insisted on playing out the back and out of EVERY pressure. Sometimes it’s better to just let a ball go out, or just clear your lines and boot it. But that’s the risks we often take and that’s the price we often pay.
2: It’s real hard to play a team that’s dangerous from 0-35 yards. I’m not even mad at the second goal. It’s world class and very little can be done about it.
3: In truth, going forward, it wasn’t terrible. There were some really positive attacking sequences. Some really good half chances and a couple of chances that should’ve been goals. Our XG backs that up. Columbus was the epitome of clinical and we were not.
4: When your best player is not as his best, your team probably won’t be either. Thiago had a bad night. It wasn’t that he was just absent from the game, it’s that he was actually bad. Poor passes. Poor service. Virtually no impact. We needed more. Much more.
5: We played a better version of ourselves. Columbus should win MLS Cup. They’re the most complete team in the league right now. They are what we are striving to be. We are on our way, and there are real reasons to be optimistic about next season and beyo
